Joint City-County Planning Departments

The Management Doctor Needs Your Help

We have just been selected to study if Jackson Hole/Teton County, Wyoming should create a joint planning department. As part of this study we want to survey the various joint planning departments in the United States and need your help in finding them. We also welcome your advice as to whether you think joint city-county planning departments are a good idea? We are not interested in metro government, only those places that have a separate city and county. Our list so far (subject to verification) includes:

  1. Belgrade/Gallatin County, Montana
  2. Belvidere/Boone County, Illinois
  3. Billings/Yellowstone County, Montana
  4. Bloomington/Monroe County, Indiana
  5. Bowling Green/Warren County, Kentucky
  6. Cary/?, North Carolina
  7. Columbus/Bartholomew, Indiana
  8. Durham/?. North Carolina
  9. Great Falls/Cascade County, Montana
  10. Greenwood/?, South Carolina
  11. Lincoln/Lancaster County, Nebraska

  13. Sumter City/?, South Carolina
  14. Tallahassee/Leon County, Florida
  15. Wichita/Sedgwick County, Kansas
